Phone Etiquette-It's The Little Things
Because people cannot see us over the phone, they will start forming opinions based not only what we say but also on how we say it.
- Answer the phone with a positive attitude. Smile as you answer and your positive energy make the caller feel more comfortable.
- You want to make sure those who call are well greeted with a pleasant tone and not a negative, could care-less you called tone. Make the caller feel welcome and not as if they are interrupting your day, even though they could be but don’t allow that to come though on the call.
- If you are in the middle of project and cannot focus or listen to a call then let it go to voicemail. Even if a person calls after hours or goes to voicemail, the answering message should have a professional greeting as well.
