Wing Franchise Chain Wingstop Opens First Location in Downtown Chicago, IL.
RICHARDSON, Texas – Wingstop today announced it has opened its first location in downtown Chicago at 12 E. Harrison Street. The fast-growing
chicken wing franchise chain now has 16 stores in Chicagoland.
The new location is owned and operated by franchisee Tom Schaffer, who also owns the Wingstop in Evergreen Park, Ill. The store is one of the first restaurants in Chicago to feature the Coca-Cola Freestyle®, a sleek, stylish new touch-screen operated fountain with 106 beverage options.
“This is a very vibrant area that’s walking distance from some of the great landmarks in the city,” said Schaffer. “The Harold Washington Library, DePaul University, Roosevelt University, Columbia College, Robert Morris University and Grant Park are all within two blocks. This area is really buzzing and we’re excited to be part of the community.”
Schaffer added that students will receive a 10 percent discount, with a valid student ID, and he is planning a grand opening celebration for December.
Chicago, which is also home to one of the top-grossing Wingstop locations in the 460-store system, is on track to double the number of stores in the area. In addition to the downtown location, Wingstop recently opened a new store in South Holland, Ill., and is scheduled to open a store at 4428 S. Pulaski Road in Chicago next month.
With a sole focus on cooked-to-order chicken wings, the Wingstop menu features traditional and boneless wings sauced and tossed in nine proprietary flavors including Original Hot, Lemon Pepper and Garlic Parmesan, and side dishes like fresh-cut, seasoned fries.
