Oil Change Franchise Jiffy Lube International, Inc., a subsidiary of Shell Oil Company and the recognized leader of the quick lube industry, is launching a strategic
national franchise growth plan to increase its footprint in the U.S. Today, the company announced its 2010 target markets for franchise growth, which include Dallas/Fort Worth, TX and Upstate New York.
Franchise opportunities are available in the company’s existing markets as well. With more than 2,000 Jiffy Lube® service centers in North America, Jiffy Lube is the largest system of
franchise service centers in the quick lube industry.

Initially created to replace services traditionally provided by full-service gas stations, Jiffy Lube with its drive-through service bay format was launched in 1979 and a completely new market category was created. Since its inception, Jiffy Lube has redefined consumers’ need for the “do-it-for-me” (DIFM) oil change. Through its marketing efforts and high-quality service, drivers across North America now recognize the importance of visiting Jiffy Lube for its Jiffy Lube Signature Service® Oil Change. Additionally, as a designated oil collection center, Jiffy Lube service centers collect and recycle more used oil than any quick-lube in North America.
Qualified candidates should possess a minimum net worth of $450,000, not including a personal residence, and a minimum liquidity of $150,000. Franchisees can expect their initial investment to range from approximately $194,000 to $323,000 with the
franchise fee, but not including real estate.
“Jiffy Lube franchisees are supplied with tools and support to help position them for success,” added Wood. “Each franchisee attends our nationally recognized training program and is provided with powerful marketing materials leveraging the Jiffy Lube brand for local market utilization.”
Choosing the most effective real estate is also key to franchisee success, as it is estimated that 20,000 cars pass a Jiffy Lube each day. The best site for a new location is a corner lot on an undivided street with two way traffic. Lots measuring 125’x160’ are ideal and the standard building is approximately 60’x 40’.
Aside from a robust support system designed to help build their business, franchisees can rely on an incremental revenue stream by servicing national fleets of cars and trucks. Typically, one out of every 10 vehicles serviced is a fleet customer. Fleets contract with Jiffy Lube to ensure their business vehicles benefit from the Jiffy Lube Signature Service® Oil Change at regular intervals to maintain manufacturer’s recommendations and warranties.
