Cinnabon plans to open Mall of Louisiana location, searching for local franchisees.
Mall of Louisiana shoppers could soon be tempted by the sweet scent of cinnamon rolls as they walk through the mall. Cinnabon, the national cinnamon roll chain, is looking to open a bakery café in the Baton Rouge mall by early next year.
The Baton Rouge location would be the state’s first mall
Cinnabon store in several years, said Cinnabon President Kat Cole.
The company previously had a couple of stores in Louisiana malls but they were closed at least five years ago when the franchisee pulled out of the business, Cole said. Now, the only
Cinnabon locations in the state are two small “micro bakeries” inside Schlotzsky’s sandwich shops in Alexandria and Lafayette.
The Mall of Louisiana location is intended to be a full bakery café, which would serve sandwiches in addition to coffee and cinnamon rolls.
The company is currently searching for a franchisee and is hoping to have the Baton Rouge location open by March 2014. The company also plans to open locations in Pecanland Mall in Monroe, Prien Lake Mall in Lake Charles and Acadiana Mall in Lafayette.
Cole said the company is eager to open new locations in Louisiana, particularly because it is one of the “most-requested” states where customers tell the company they want to see more
Cinnabons.
“Louisiana is a market where I have personally been dying to see our brand well-represented in malls, the way we are in almost every other state in the U.S.,” Cole said. “It’s crazy that we’re not in Louisiana, especially in the larger cities.”
